Bryce Canyon is very beautiful and has a great history to it that goes way long ago. Many ancient artifacts have been gathered which leads scientists to believe that the Indians lived in the Bryce Canyon area over thousand years ago (Tanya). One man named John Wesley Powell said that many Indians gave the structure of the rocks. In Bryce Canyon many Indians settled in but then moved out to find a better life but in the 1870's Mormon pioneers settled in. A Mormon named Ebenezer Bryce and his family were one of the many people who came to settle in the area of Bryce Canyon (Tanya). He built a road that lead to the pink cliffs to make timber more accessible which people then started to call it "Bryce Canyon" and was kept that way. Ebenezer then moved away because of his wife's health and in September 26, 1913 Ebenezer died and was buried in the Bryce Cemetery. Bryce Canyon has a long history to it that just goes on and on.
